The Owl as a totem is usually the totem or guide of shamans; medicine men and women. Owl always presents mysteries. An owl is the only hunter that hunts at night, and the only hunter bird that hunts in total silence. What this means is, when an owl chooses to enter your pursuits as a power guide, he is telling you about the importance of silence and magic.
When an individual has owl as a totem or a guide, one of the things being told to you is to be aware of everything in your life and how it effects you your environment, privacy and spiritual beliefs. He is saying that your goals as an individual have already started and the reason is that you are so grateful for what you already have and this gives you a very clear image of how you would like to be or wish to accomplish in your life.
It is not a matter of starting; you have already began because of your clear image of future, it is a matter of continuing and to maintain the image of where you would like to be. The Owl is telling you to continue and that the only thing that can stop you is the influence of another; the type of individual who is constantly having relationship issues, or that is always stuck on money. It is very important to be a support system, but that’s all; these type of individuals (even to an extent, family) will have the effect of causing you to loose focus on your image and what an individual want to do is to increase the clarity and animation of your image; it is a gradual process.
The owls two paths to protection and power is silence and magic:
What this means is to keep information to yourself. Work things out on your own as much as you can and stay focused on your goal through magic (prayer and meditation, or both). Knowledge is power and certain knowledge must be kept to ones self or it will defeat your purpose.
The Owl is one of the most powerful spiritual guides and must be taken very seriously, he is called in Northern Native American spirituality; Great medicine bird or night eagle. Individuals that possess owl medicine are often attracted to magical practices but we must resist anything that effects another. Owl medicine resists anything that takes energy from another. Remember, Owls are wise.
