Today: The Elk.

The Elk represents stamina. In todays fast paced world there is a very real need for keeping up with the life you desire work, children, and other activities of daily life. Humanity in general has evolved technologically a lot faster then psychologically, and as a species there has always been a need for a consistent pace; this is what the Elk represents as a totem or guide. He may not be the first one present however, he will arrive that is certain.

In todays world a lot of people find or think they must multi-task and in some cases it is necessary. It has been proven that multi-tasking creates a feeling of getting a lot done but really does not; there is more quality and uniqueness when a person concentrates on one task at a time. The reason the Elk completes his task is because he paces himself. The Wolf waiting to make the Elk his dinner is waiting for him to stop or take a break and will continue to wait. The elk does not stop until the right time, when the wolf has become tired.

The mountain lion present in the cliffs above is waiting for elk to run so she can jump on him and bring dinner home to her cubs however, elk paces himself confusing the cat; he arrives at his destination. You see he smelled them as they did him, he knew they were there.

Elk also teaches us to connect with individuals of our own sex, brothers/sisters, uncles/aunts, good friends, and further. To be balanced in life we need friends, and good support systems of both sexes for example a girls night out, a bowling team, or just getting together with family and friends for a nice barbecue.

Elk represents a need for pace in ones life, to arrive at your destination and enjoy getting there. We as human beings are very adaptable but we must remember some things take time and we must pace ourselves so as to not become overwhelmed, or distracted.

The sexual aspect of Elk as a totem is associated with attraction and ability (very spiritual symbol) and we must not forget strength.
