Kat, Who is one of Foretell’s psychics, had to have her oldest dog Tom put to sleep recently. Tom’s passing was quite a shock for both of us. I had gotten to know all of her dogs over the last few years. It’s funny how you get used to a dog just always being there.

While I had done a lot of work on my own past lives, it was only in the last few years that I realized how often our pets have been with us as well. That’s why when they leave us it has such a devastating effect on us.

Kat and I knew Tom in many of our previous lives. Our first encounter with Tom was millions of years ago when he was actually a prehistoric fish. I called him “The Guard Fish” and I wrote a blog on him a while back. I don’t know where I found Tom, but somehow I managed to bring him back to my place. Whenever I came home, Tom would get all excited and thrash around in his pool.

One of Tom’s ears flops down. It turns out that back when Tom was a fish, his top fin flopped over to one side in the same way. I think that’s about as literal a karmic reference as you can get. I have found similar attributes in Kat’s dogs that come from previous lives, and each one has an amazing story behind it.

In ancient Egypt when I was a pharaoh, Tom was a black stallion. He was one of our favorite horses. We used to race him. I have an image of him rearing up on his hind legs. He was a magnificent horse.

Later on, somewhere between the years of BC and AD, Tom was a large, ferocious dog living in the Black Forest with us in Germany. He helped defend the area we lived in. Believe me, you did not want to face this dog in battle. It was like a scene from a science fiction movie.

Tom was also one of our dogs when we were settlers in Wyoming in the late 1800’s. I went out hunting in the fall one day and my horse got spooked by a snake. I fell off and was attacked by a bear, which ultimately did me in. Tom tried to protect me but I think it was too late.

During World War II, Tom was a guard dog in the German Army. We were at a POW camp in Poland. Whenever I give voice commands to these dogs, they listen to me because I trained them. (But having Tom on a leash was like reeling in a 900 pound tuna.)

Tom and I have had a long history together. That’s why I felt that he will always be there and why it’s so hard for me to accept his passing. I’m pretty sure he will come back at some point in the future. I just wonder what kind of dog he will be. But that’s a story left to be written…
